OWNER, VAL JEAN-BART
Valery “Val” Jean-Bart of Val’s Cheesecakes is a business owner and professional civil engineer currently living in DFW. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Florida in 2000 and pursuing his engineering license, Val worked for 17 years as a civil engineer with numerous firms and government entities. In 2008, Val began caring for his mother through terminal breast cancer, during which they baked a cheesecake every Sunday. After her passing, he began to sell his cheesecakes at restaurants and then opened the Shack on Maple Avenue while completing infrastructure projects as a civil engineer. In 2017, he finally quit his job to open his second location, The SHOP. Val’s goal is to continue to share his mother’s love of cheesecake and perpetually inspire love, grace, dignity, and respect.
